Markerstudy Group donated over £300,000 to charities and good causes in 2024, resulting in its most successful year to date. Among the charities to benefit was Macmillan Cancer Support, Markerstudy’s charity of choice for 2024, which received more than £50,000 of donations.

Throughout the year, colleagues set themselves personal challenges, such as half and full marathons, hikes and skydives, to raise further funds for charities close to their hearts, as well as hosting onsite activities such as bake sales and car washes, which raised over £180,000. This includes employee payroll giving and donations made by the Group’s charitable giving committee, Motiv8.

In addition, customer donations via Markerstudy brands Brightside and Lancaster Insurance to Auditory Verbal UK, a charity providing deaf children with access to auditory verbal therapy, totalled just over £19,700. Auditory verbal therapy equips parents and caregivers with the tools needed to support the development of their deaf child’s listening and spoken language.

Other activities saw more than 1,500 colleagues spend over 8,000 hours giving back to causes that mean the most to them. Colleagues also donated close to 3,500 items to charity through the Group-wide ‘Donation Station’ initiative that encourages donations of items such as warm coats and jumpers for the homeless in their communities.

Looking back on a jam-packed year of fundraising and volunteering, Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Markerstudy’s Chief Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, said: “It’s fantastic that our sustainability efforts were recognised with wins at the Insurance Times Awards ESG category in December and at the National Insurance Awards earlier in the year. We aim to ‘put the fun into insurance’ and it’s been heartening to see our colleagues carrying this ethos into our sustainability activities for the good of their wider communities. The outcome has been extraordinary, exceeding all expectations, so a huge thank you to all who got involved!”

Markerstudy’s charitable activities in 2025 will focus on its colleague charity of choice, Cancer Research UK.
